Time has certainly flown by this year. September will find the start of some major bass tournaments on week ends so try to fish mid week to avoid the extra fishing traffic. The Lake is in good condition, the algae blooms have not been bad this year and the water level is still higher than this same time frame last year. The upper half of the lake has a lot of off shore weed beds which are good for punching a bait into and throwing a top water lure such as a frog or buzz bait. You have to cover a lot of water to get your bites but the fish are there, you just have to find them. The vast majority of fisherman are working the deeper water in mid lake to the South arms. Drop shot rigs, shakey head jigs, crank baits and spinner baits are all being used along with top water baits such as the Rico poppers and spooks. Over all the bite is decent but finding the bigger fish is tough. We are catching a lot of fish in the one to two and a half pound range, catching a three pound bass is considered a really nice fish and catching a five pound bass is considered a real lunker. Currently the catfish bite is considered really good while the crappie bite is really scattered. It's labor day weekend and the lake is pretty busy but overall traffic will drop way off except for the scheduled bass tournaments on weekends. Be safe, be courteous, take good care of the fish, God Bless
