The overall numbers being caught may be down from past years, but the fish that are being caught are solid fish and catching four to five pounders is considered normal. The month of October will have some year end tournaments, TOC'S, and the lake will get busier. I was surprised as to how many boats I saw on the water today during the week. I caught my fish on a lipless crank bait and on a Texas rigged jig style trailer. Next big tournament will be the weekend of October 7th and 8th. Water level of the lake is at 2.96 feet which should be enough to keep all our ramps open for the rest of the season. 9/15/23
I got out today to do some pre fishing for an upcoming trip. The water I fished was in decent shape with some areas of just a light covering of algae. I fished mid lake, had to work for quite awhile to find fish, but when I found them they were all nice fish. I had three over four pounds and two over five pounds. In my opinion the lake is fishing much better than this same time frame during our last three years of drought months and I expect the bite will only get better as we go into fall. I was told that his past weekends tournament was won with a total of around 50 pounds and that the winning team had close to 29 pounds on the final day.
