It is tournament season so be prepared to have company on most of the upcoming weekends. Two of the bigger tournaments will hit the lake 3/6 3/7 & 3/8, then again on 3/16 and 3/17. The one concern will be if the water level gets to high, some of the ramps may have to shut down so stay in touch and monitor local conditions. Be safe, be courteous, wear your life jackets, God Bless 2/18/24
Red Sky in the morning, storm to hit tonight. The lake topped out close to full last week, they have been letting water out to prepare for this evening and tomorrows storm. We will have a full lake and very possible over full for the spring season. The latest rains and strong winds have muddied up the lake big time but this lake can clear up fast when the wind and rain finally settles. On the fishing side, it has been nothing short of phenomenal. A recent tournament had five teams weighing in over 30 lbs for each of their five fish bags. Amazing, come in with 30 pounds for five fish and find yourself in 5th place. In yesterdays tournament which under very windy and rainy conditions had the winning team come in with 32 plus pounds for their five fish and six other teams had over 28 lbs for their five, 29 lbs and find yourself in 5th place. WOW, what a lake. This type of bite and fish size will continue to hold through the spawn, catching a five to seven pound fish is considered normal and no big deal right now. Everything from the Alabama rigs, glide baits, chatter baits, various swimbaits and a whole variety of under spins are catching fish. Just have to find the schools, cover water and hope to land the big one.
